I. Švažas and J. Mažeikienė have joined the INPP management team

This week, Irmantas Švažas, a business management professional, and Jolita Mažeikienė, a communications and marketing expert, joined the management team of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant SE. Mr Švažas will head one of the most important departments of the company - the newly established Strategy Department, while Ms Mažeikienė will become the Head of the Communication Department.

"Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant is currently in a transformation phase - we have gained momentum in strategically important decommissioning projects, while at the same time we are focused on the future - we are changing by introducing new innovative solutions, expanding our field of activity, and taking on new projects. In this period of change, modern management based on the best management principles and effective communication are of particular importance to guarantee the company's professionalism, transparency and openness to the public. We are delighted to have attracted new managers to our team, with whom we will work together to achieve ambitious goals in this journey of nuclear change," says Linas Baužys, INPP CEO.

According to L. Baužys, the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant is becoming a magnet for professionals, who now have an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the transformation of the INPP - to become creators of strategic change, implementers of innovative solutions, and, in essence, to make a huge and forward-looking qualitative change. "We will always need professionals from different disciplines as we change and strive to become the next generation of progressive companies," notes the INPP CEO.

The new Head of INPP Strategy Department Irmantas Švažas will be responsible for the development and management of the company's long-term strategy, assessing new development opportunities, analysing innovation opportunities, ensuring the development of the company's corporate sustainability policy etc. I. Švažas has spent the last 4 years in private investment (renewable energy, private debt and real estate) and has held various management positions over the last 15 years (Group CEO of Alma Littera Grupė, Head of Sales at Mars Lietuva). He holds a degree in Business Administration from Kaunas University of Technology and a degree in Financial Management from ISM University of Management and Economics.

The new Head of INPP Communication Department J. Mažeikienė will be responsible for the development and management of the company's internal and external communication strategy, the renewal of the company's brand, the strengthening of the employer's image, etc. Prior to joining the INPP management team, she was the Head of Marketing and Communications at the Innovation Agency. She has more than 15 years of experience in the field of communication, from business journalism to digital marketing. Mažeikienė has the most experience in strategic management of public sector communication and marketing, change communication (consolidating the agencies Versli Lietuva, LVPA and MITA), and has successfully implemented projects to update and change the identity of organisations. She has studied Information Society Studies at Vilnius University and holds a Master's degree in Marketing from Vilnius University Business School.

Today, one of the INPP's main objectives is to implement the immediate dismantling of the decommissioned nuclear power plant without leaving future generations with an unreasonable burden of radioactive waste management. The company's mission is to create a clean environment by sustainably managing the legacy of nuclear activities. The final decommissioning and dismantling of the plant is scheduled for 2038, the obligation to construct and operate a deep repository for the plant is scheduled for 2079, during which time we will establish ourselves as a progressive next-generation company and successfully develop our activities further.
