Ignalina NPP has signed two contracts

On January 11th, this year, the State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant signed two contracts for the design services of reactor dismantling technologies with major companies in the global nuclear energy market: a consortium led by Westinghouse Electric Spain (a subsidiary of the US company Westinghouse Electric) consisting of Westinghouse Electric Spain SAU and Jacobs Slovakia s.r.o., and Lithuanian Energy Institute, as well as other consortium led by the French company Electricite de France, consisting of Electricite de France and Graphitech companies.

In 2028, the physical dismantling of the reactor will start - an extraordinary work and an unprecedented project worldwide. The dismantling of the world's two most powerful RBMK reactors is the first decommissioning project of its kind in the world.

Preliminary contracts with the contractors were signed on 28 December 2022.

The contracts are signed for a period of 4 years, with a maximum price for each preliminary contract of EUR 5,500,000.00 excluding VAT.

The project is financed by the EU Ignalina Programme.
