SE Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant won the “Workplace of the Year 2021” award in the category of large enterprises in the thirteenth National Responsible Business Awards (hereinafter – NRBA).
NRBA awards are given to the most advanced Lithuanian companies, which focus on social responsibility and transparency of their activities, paying special attention to the implementation of the ideas of employees' initiatives that are environmentally friendly.
“Challenges today. Responsibility for ages. With this slogan created by the Ignalina NPP employee, more than 1,700 INPP employees come to work every day, realizing the importance of their activities, their responsibility for the work they do and its impact on future generations. These are people with a serious commitment, who together are the community that won the “Workplace of the Year 2021” award. This community, perhaps unfamiliar to many to date, creates an inclusive work environment on a daily basis through responsible work and loyalty to the employer. Therefore, I am very happy and proud that the state-owned enterprise - Ignalina NPP - has been noticed among other recognized Lithuanian workplaces, which perceive their organizational culture as a state in which it is good for everyone to work. This award is a great incentive to improve and justify the received title every day with our work", - Mrs. Dalia Enkienė, Human Resources Executive of Ignalina NPP, thanked the INPP team for receiving the award.
"This is a very important assessment, to which we have put a lot of meticulous long-term work. Our highest priority is the health and safety of our employees, so we try to invest in it every day - with smaller or larger acts. However, I hope that the nomination "Workplace of the Year 2021" is not only relevant for our team. I would like this award to become a resounding message to the public - we are one of the largest enterprises in the region, constantly looking to strengthen the team, we have ambitious goals to share knowledge and experience, so I invite you not to evaluate the Ignalina NPP only in the context of a “safe decommissioning nuclear power plant”, because we are much more. I would like to thank every member of the Ignalina NPP team, and our social partners, with whom we often look for mutually beneficial solutions. Such an assessment is a confirmation to us that we are on the right track,” said Audrius Kamienas, Director General of Ignalina NPP.
The INPP's human resource management policy focuses on the Enterprise's main assets - employees, ensuring their unity, development, growth of competencies, as well as the code of ethics, constant concern for the safety, health and social well-being of employees’, and responsibility to the country and society.
The Enterprise listens to the needs of its employees and strives to meet their expectations: all employees have access to physical and electronic "boxes of proposals" that employees actively use. Proposals are analyzed and discussed at weekly management meetings. The selected proposals that improve the conditions of employees continue to be implemented, and employees who submit proposals are encouraged annually.
The Enterprise provides additional social guarantees to employees: additional severance pay (taking into account the uninterrupted record of service at Ignalina NPP; additional material benefits due to illness or close care, birth or adoption of a child, death of an employee or relative of theirs; a day off is paid for employees who donate blood or participate in other donation and volunteering activities; gifts on the occasion of personal and seniority anniversaries; additional days off for those raising children; other benefits and social guarantees.
Much attention is paid to the formation of internal culture - a study of employee involvement and empowerment has been conducted for several years, the results of which show a growth of these indicators.
In 2021, the project “People We Are Proud of” was implemented to promote employee involvement, during which INPP employees nominated colleagues in the categories “Most Positive Employee”, “Most Engaged Employee”, “Leader Employee”, “Discovery of the Year”, “Atomic Lady” and “Team Spirit”. Winners were awarded commemorative statuettes and gifts during the special event.
The National Responsible Business Awards have been an initiative of state institutions in Lithuania since 2008. It aims to raise awareness of the benefits of corporate social responsibility for business, the state and everyone, and to encourage the country's companies to implement the principles of social responsibility. Since 2013, the awards have been organized by the Ministry of Social Security and Labor, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation and the Ministry of the Environment together with the social partners.
