Considering the information recently published on social networks about the incident at the temporary radioactive waste storage facility of State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (hereinafter – SE INPP) on the last day of 2020, we inform you that this information is false, it misleads the public and damages the Enterprise's reputation.
We confirm that no incident that could affect personnel, the environment, radiation background or nuclear safety has occurred at SE INPP.
SE INPP constantly monitors the radioactivity of INPP emissions into the atmosphere, therefore we ensure that there were no unusual releases of radioactive substances into the air either before the New Year or this year.
We periodically inform the public and interested parties about INPP activities in accordance with the established procedure. Realizing that the Enterprise's activities are a sensitive and important issue for the society, we adhere to the principles of maximum information, openness and cooperation, therefore we publish all information about the occurences on the Enterprise’s website www.iae.lt. In addition, we inform you that we provide operative information on the radiation background in the INPP region on the INPP website.
