On February 9, Vice-Minister of Energy Lina Sabaitenė paid a working visit to the State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP), where she discussed strategic decommissioning issues with the company's management, visited new facilities and familiarized herself with the dismantling works on the units.
During the meeting with the managment of the enterprise, the planning and control of the decommissioning process of the Ignalina NPP and the importance of further financing of the decommissioning was discussed.
During the visit to the unit, L. Sabaitienė got acquainted with the scope of the dismantling works carried out and the results of their implementation, with the progress of fuel unloading from the second reactor, the loading of spent fuel into casks and the casks transportation to the storage facility. The Vice-Minister of Energy also visited the Interim Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility (project B1) and the Solid Waste Storage Facility (project B3 / 4), where she got acquainted with the progress of the implementation of these projects.
